FAQs

What is the septic system process?

Basically, perc test, survey, design, town review/approval, installation, signoff.

Who is the arproving authority?

Board of Health reviews and approves septic system design. Local Conservation Commission and state DEP review and approve work in wetland and resource area buffer zones. DCR approves work in surface water supply protection districts, to name a few of the most prevalent.

How much does it cost?

Each job receives a customized quote and contract. CWE provides you with a detailed, itemized quote. Notice of town fees and contractor estimates are included.

How long does the septic system process take?

Generally, it takes 3 to 6 weeks from agreement to approval. That can change significantly depending on what town we are working in, whether we are in the midst of the busy season, if soils need to go to the certified lab, or if there are wetland or resource areas to contend with to name a few of the more obvious delays.

Who is involved?

Engineers, contractors and approving agencies. For new construction or small lots with unknown lot line locations registered surveyors may be part of the process.

where do i start? what do i do?

With a call to CWE! We are happy to explain the process and answer any questions you have. We will send you a detailed, itemized quote. You return signed copy with retainer. On your verbal OK we will get the ball rolling with a perc application to the Town and then the whole process is underway.
